What do I need to know before I come?
There is no need to book! Classes are drop-in, all you need to do is turn up a few minutes before the start time
Payment is by cash before the class starts
We take a break over the Summer and Christmas holidays so please email to check if classes are on if you are wishing to come near those times. Classes carry on through the rest of the year including during school holidays
We dance barefoot so no need to worry about footwear
Wear comfortable clothing you can move in (e.g. leggings and a vest top), you don't have to have your belly out!
Most classes include a warm up, stretches, some technique work, choreography and a cool down
I ask that all students respect one another and take responsibility for the safety of themselves and their belongings when dancing. Please place your belongings safely at the side of the room as near to the wall as possible when you arrive
If you are pregnant or have any health problems please check with your GP before attending classes
Belly Dance involves the isolation of the upper, middle and lower body using muscle control to create dynamic moves alongside what I like to call oozy moves! Travelling, spins and wobbles are also key parts of the dance making Belly Dance an exciting and exhilarating way to keep fit and have fun. Don't worry if it sounds complicated, Belly Dance was designed for the unique way our bodies move and can be adapted to whatever your individual body is capable of!
Belly Dance is for all shapes, sizes and ages. We are a friendly, supportive and social group. Many students see classes as a great way to have a bit of 'me time'
For Loveday's classes the style I specialise in is Egyptian Belly Dance. Classes can include many styles of this along with other styles e.g. Oriental, Baladi, Saiid, Veil, Fan Veil, Sword, Drum Solo, Pop, Khaleegy, Fusion, Nubian and more!
Loveday has studied hard to be a safe and knowledgeable teacher. In addition to regular attendance to dance workshops to expand my skills I have certified completion of the JWAAD Teacher Training Diploma. For more information please visit the JWAAD website. I am also a member of the JTA (JWAAD Teachers Association)
